What inspires the bass player?

Predominantly I play guitar but what inspires me is music that sounds good or cool in some way - generally rock genres or pop, even a bit of R&B. For example one track is Numb by Gary Clark Jr. and music that I can associate something I like with. One of these is Good and the Bad by the New FO's that featured in one of my favourite TV shows. I didn't like it that much at first but when I revisited the scene it made me like it more just because of the scene and the show it's associated with, a show that I love.

I liked it enough to learn it by ear.

What also inspires me is the idea that I am continually improving at something that lets me have a bit of freedom, creativity and fun.
